God-Story #19: Ron

If you are not a football fan you may not know that there is this quarterback guy that looks like Michael Slider. He won the Hiezman Trophy while playing college ball in Florida which is kind of a big deal. He was drafted into the NFL by the Denver Broncos and was thier back up untill this season. He is a Christian man. Not a quick thank you God for my success type guy because thats what he was taught to say after a touch down. He genuinely loves the lord. You know this because whenever he is interviewed by the talking heads at ESPN or FOX or the reporter who muscles thier way in to get an exclusive interview after the game, he ONLY wants to proclaim Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. He dosen't want to talk about the stupid game. I watched a 15 minute interview in which he mentioned God so much that the announcers didn't have a clue as to how to respond. When they talk about "how awesome do you feel at being a great quarter back" he says stuff like "thats great and I am glad God blessed me in this way because now I get to open an orpahanage in Jesus's name" This makes him a HUGE target for folks who dont like it when Jesus or God or the Holy Spirit are mentioned in public. He writes John 3:16 on his eye blocks (the black stuff under his eyes) HE LOVES JESUS...

God-Story #15

So I was in Hobby Lobby - again. This time I was there to purchase some items for our upcoming Christmas Eve services. Since I had a cart full of items, the women I was trying to pass to get to my car commented "Wow, you are really going to light up the neighborhood". This was a great opportunity to either say yes and keep going or to stop, get a Christmas Eve card out and give it to her, explaining how much we would love for her and her family to come on December 24 to experience Christ at our Christmas Eve services. I have taken the opportunity to share "The Reason for the Season" with many people in many venues and it is great to see their responses. Many are grateful, I have never had anyone tell me to go away or give me the card back. Who knows, maybe they will come and be blessed. I encourage you to hand out as many cards as possible so everyone has the opportunity to be blessed this Christmas season.
