God-Story #12: Cyndi

So, 2011 has been an incredibly difficult year, yet one in which God's faithfulness has been shining through! Other than the support of our "child" at Kulphar Kid's Home in India, we have not been doing any real giving. Nevertheless, I decided to commit to the 90 day tithe challenge. After I made my first offering, my daughter was given a $1600 scholarship for grad school, completely out of the blue. What better way to bless a mother than a gift for her child? But God wasn't finished yet; no way. I work for a company that has not given raises or bonuses for more than three years, and the company is just now emerging from Chaper 11 bankruptcy. So, the chance of getting a raise in the next year or so was pretty slim. But this week my boss called me into her office and told me that they wanted me to consider taking on a different position than I have had in my five years with the company. Oh, and by-the-way it would be a promotion...with a raise. Oh, and coincidentally, the amount of the raise is just more than the amount of my 90-day commitment.
God is good!

God-Story #11: Charles

After prayful consideration of the 90-Day Tithe Challenge, Jane and I checked our financial status. After adding up our income, we could see that we needed to increase our giving to meet the Challenge. Even though we know that God does amazing things, we were still surprised this week when a notice came that an investment made several years ago was going to return our capital and any accrued interest. Praise God. This was totally unexpected as we were not sure that any of money would be returned.

God-Story #7: Jason

Several weeks ago, even before God led us to the 90-Day Tithe Challenge, the elders began praying about and discussing ways we could lead and encourage our congregation in the area of joyful giving. One of the ideas we had considered was asking folks who were already giving regularly to stretch in faith and give an additional $25/week until the end of 2011. The week after we discussed that idea, I started praying about our family's participation in that challenge. However, when Sunday morning came, I realized I had not actually done any due diligence to make sure we could "afford" it in our budget, etc. Still, I felt strongly led to step out in faith and commit to at least the extra $25/week through the end of 2011. So, I hit up the giving kiosk and added $25 to our giving that week, and honestly didn't think much of it after that. That was Sunday...

God-Story #5

God is so good. I thank God first and foremost for how He has saved me and my family...and for how He has given us a hope and a purpose. When my wife & I heard about this 90 Day Challenge, we knew we were about to be stretched--(for we have had to take a pay cut this year)--but we still felt led to increase our giving and give back to the Lord. It was no less than 24 hours later, after turning in our Commitment Card, that my grandmother calls out-of-the-blue, and asks if we needed any extra money. I was blown away...after paying all of the bills, we really didn't have much left (and we really didn't want to use the credit card)...and then God has my grandmother call to ask us if we needed any extra money...crazy? I know that God's promise to "bless" in Malachi 3:10 does NOT mean it will always be in the form of finances...I get that & I believe it. For in retrospect, I really see this out-of-the-blue phone call from my grandmother as something that blessed us in our faith...MUCH MORE...than in our finances. God is so good.
