Entries in heaven (1)
God-Story #16: Fran
Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:29AM I had just dropped off my Grandson Max and was heading down the hill when I received news that our long time Missionary to India Leah Moshier had passed away. As I approached what I know to be a long red light, it occurred to me by putting my windows down; I would be able to hear Heaven rejoicing for one such as her. I sat intently listening, but the only sounds I heard were those of Man-Made pollution. Car engines humming, rubber tires pressing on asphalt roads, and random loud music. For the remainder of my day I tried both inside and outside of my home to hear the celebration. Each time I was met with noise pollution, a fire truck with its sirens wailing off in the distance, a helicopter circling overhead and a clock ticking reminding me that minutes were slipping by. I approached God in my nightly devotions and shared with Him my disappointment. I knew that my not being able to hear Heavens glorious celebration did not diminish what Leah was and is experiencing.
The following morning as I headed through my family room to the kitchen I noticed my back patio was fogged in. I was unable to see my black wrought iron fence only a short distance away. As I entered the kitchen I heard with clarity and volume the sound of a Cardinal singing out its morning song. Although I had heard them before, I had never heard it with such perfection. I knew that John must have left the back glass door open. As I rounded the kitchen to close the door, the fog had lifted, my fence was clearly in view and the door was closed and locked. I realized at that moment what God had done. He closed out my home and allowed me for only a few moments to hear Heavens rejoicing through the warbling of that beautiful bird. I was privileged to hear a tiny part of Leah's homecoming! Since that day I have held those precious moments in my heart. Our Father in Heaven loves us so much....so much that He delights in giving us "Holy Surprises".
Thank you Lord Jesus.
May the Heavens rejoice when it is my turn.
