Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 10:25AM It's great that LHCC is made up of such diverse age groups. It's healthy and that's how God wants us to learn from one another. It presents some interesting communications challenges at times. Here's an example that I laugh at each time I think about it. It's on my "dumb things I've done on a daily basis list".
Here I am, exactly twice the age of Pastor Chris, so, as a way of encouraging him from time to time, I'll text (yeah, that was a big step for me) him a word or two. After doing this a time or two, whatever I had sent him was sort of funny. I received back "LOL". Now I remember that from when I wrote my high school sweetheart Jan (now my wife) love notes between class. It meant "Lot's of Love". At first when I saw Chris's LOL I thought "whoa, this relationship has gone too far." Later a member of the younger, texting generation told me that it meant "Laugh Out Loud". I feel better about that.
Have a great day and don't be affraid to reach out to the various generations we are surrounded by.
