God-Story #32
Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 1:16PM SCARS TELL A STORY
There I was sitting in the pre-op room in my fashionable open-backed gown anticipating three more scars soon to appear on this already scared old body of mine. I kind of grin when I look at my foot and see the scars from catching some guy's spikes during a high school baseball game. What hurt me most, as I recall, was that I had to sit-out the next game and watch my teammate's batting averages climb while facing a weak pitcher. Then I cringe when I see the scar on my hand left when the saw my brother was holding skipped and sunk into my hand as I held a piece of wood my brother was sawing. I mostly remember both older brothers laughing as I fell to the ground in pain. (I'm still working on the forgiveness part of that episode). Then there's the visible reminder on my neck of the spine surgery, the scars on my wrist, the eight inch scar on my belly. They all have a story....but all are but a mosquito bite compared to the scars on Jesus hands that tell the greatest story of love that ever will be told. Thank you Jesus for doing that for me. tk

Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10:22AM If you are not a football fan you may not know that there is this quarterback guy that looks like Michael Slider. He won the Hiezman Trophy while playing college ball in Florida which is kind of a big deal. He was drafted into the NFL by the Denver Broncos and was thier back up untill this season. He is a Christian man. Not a quick thank you God for my success type guy because thats what he was taught to say after a touch down. He genuinely loves the lord. You know this because whenever he is interviewed by the talking heads at ESPN or FOX or the reporter who muscles thier way in to get an exclusive interview after the game, he ONLY wants to proclaim Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. He dosen't want to talk about the stupid game. I watched a 15 minute interview in which he mentioned God so much that the announcers didn't have a clue as to how to respond. When they talk about "how awesome do you feel at being a great quarter back" he says stuff like "thats great and I am glad God blessed me in this way because now I get to open an orpahanage in Jesus's name" This makes him a HUGE target for folks who dont like it when Jesus or God or the Holy Spirit are mentioned in public. He writes John 3:16 on his eye blocks (the black stuff under his eyes) HE LOVES JESUS...

General God-Story #16: Fran
Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:29AM I had just dropped off my Grandson Max and was heading down the hill when I received news that our long time Missionary to India Leah Moshier had passed away. As I approached what I know to be a long red light, it occurred to me by putting my windows down; I would be able to hear Heaven rejoicing for one such as her. I sat intently listening, but the only sounds I heard were those of Man-Made pollution. Car engines humming, rubber tires pressing on asphalt roads, and random loud music. For the remainder of my day I tried both inside and outside of my home to hear the celebration. Each time I was met with noise pollution, a fire truck with its sirens wailing off in the distance, a helicopter circling overhead and a clock ticking reminding me that minutes were slipping by. I approached God in my nightly devotions and shared with Him my disappointment. I knew that my not being able to hear Heavens glorious celebration did not diminish what Leah was and is experiencing.
The following morning as I headed through my family room to the kitchen I noticed my back patio was fogged in. I was unable to see my black wrought iron fence only a short distance away. As I entered the kitchen I heard with clarity and volume the sound of a Cardinal singing out its morning song. Although I had heard them before, I had never heard it with such perfection. I knew that John must have left the back glass door open. As I rounded the kitchen to close the door, the fog had lifted, my fence was clearly in view and the door was closed and locked. I realized at that moment what God had done. He closed out my home and allowed me for only a few moments to hear Heavens rejoicing through the warbling of that beautiful bird. I was privileged to hear a tiny part of Leah's homecoming! Since that day I have held those precious moments in my heart. Our Father in Heaven loves us so much....so much that He delights in giving us "Holy Surprises".
Thank you Lord Jesus.
May the Heavens rejoice when it is my turn.
